The beauty of preparation

In Solomonic magic, there is a heavy emphasis put on the 3/7/9 days before the evocation is going to occur. Each day is for exorcising and consecrating a different tool used in the final operation. There  are a set number of different prayers for each morning before the consecration begins. This is also in order to firmly cement your connection to the great unseen power that governs all of creation. We prayer for protection but also for strength and spiritual authority in the face of a spirit who may not listen to you otherwise. 

this emphasis on long and lengthy preparations for rituals has slowly but sure faded away in the last 100 years of new magical systems and books released. There are many reasons for this, but the most prevailing reason is the need for instant gratification as our attention spans have continued to shrink to almost undetectable numbers. 

for the last 9 days I have spent every single night performing my nightly rituals to Hekate and as part of each nightly ritual I have conjured and consecrated a different ingredient in a incense I am making on the full moon tonight. It has not occurred to me until shortly before I began writing this blog that there is a tension growing within me and my temple that I can only hope will reach its full potential upon the completion of this incense and imbue it with an untold amount of power. 

While I am preparing for a simple mixture of ingredients and not an evocation of some chthonic spirit, the last 9 days has affirmed for me that patience is not only a virtue, but a tool with immense power that when wielded properly, can break down barriers between world
